Emily James, M.S. '09 serves as the associate director of Development for the College of Education, which includes the Laboratory Schools – University High School and Thomas Metcalf School. She enjoys working with alumni and friends from the college and connecting them with areas about which they are passionate. Generous support from these alumni and friends supports the work of our great faculty and allows the College of Education to provide financial assistance to students. The college supports over 90 different scholarship funds, and awards over 110 scholarships annually to deserving and outstanding students.
Emily has been with Illinois State University since 2007. Prior to her current role she worked with the Karin Bone Athletic Study Center and served as a Development associate for three years serving the colleges of Education, Nursing, Arts and Sciences and the Division of Student Affairs.
Emily holds a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in journalism and communication and a master’s degree from Illinois State University in College Student Personnel Administration. Emily is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Council for Advancement and Support of Education and Professional Women of McLean County. She enjoys volunteering with the YWCA of McLean County, the Humane Society of Central Illinois, and Therapy Dogs International. Emily and her husband Cris live in Bloomington with their two golden retrievers, Bogey and Ace.
