Janet M. Varnes serves as director of Development for the College of Applied Science and Technology. Her responsibilities include engaging alumni, faculty, staff, and friends in the six departments and two schools that make up the college and helping those individuals make a difference through philanthropic support of student and faculty programs. Janet came to Illinois State in 2011 from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, after serving 14 years in roles as director of advancement, senior director of advancement, and executive director of major gifts. She held executive director positions in Central Illinois for the OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation Council and the Abraham Lincoln Healthcare Foundation. Janet is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Springfield with a B.A. in business management and an M.A. in health services administration. Janet resides in Peoria with her husband, Rick, and enjoys gardening, motorcycling, and spending time with her family.
