Kathy Alexander has served as the director of stewardship since 2007. She directs efforts within University Advancement and across campus designed to help donors see how their investment in Illinois State University has made a difference.

Kathy began working at Illinois State in 1994 as assistant director of the master of business administration program. In that position, she recruited and advised M.B.A. students, served as systems analyst for the M.B.A. database, edited the alumni magazine, coordinated the corporate M.B.A. program, and established a post-graduate certificate program through which M.B.A. alumni could update their degrees.

She received a B.A. in mathematics from Monmouth College and an M.B.A. from Western Illinois University. Additionally, she successfully defended her proposal and completed a pilot study for a Ph.D. in business strategy at the University of Illinois before resigning from the program to accept the administrative position at Illinois State. She also taught business classes as an instructor at all three of these institutions, as well as at Ball State University as an assistant professor. She is involved in the community through the Normal Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church, P.E.O., the gluten intolerance group, and the Lake Run Club.
